Cameron Harris-Brown

“Cameron was diagnosed with stage 4 Colon cancer on Mother’s Day in 2019—a day that forever changed our family. But Cameron’s story is so much more than his diagnosis. His story is about a remarkable young man who lived with an incredible amount of love, compassion, strength, and purpose!

Before cancer entered his life, Cam was an active, athletic kid who loved playing sports. He played baseball, and basketball when he was younger, but as he got older, football was definitely his favorite! He loved playing the game, although watching it wasn’t quite as exciting to him! When he did watch football, he was a loyal 49ers fan!

Cam had a natural curiosity and a love for figuring things out. He absolutely loved cars! If something needed fixing, he would turn to YouTube and teach himself how to do it. YouTube was basically his encyclopedia! He was determined, resourceful, and always eager to learn something new. Cam was also incredibly talented. He loved to draw and was an amazing artist! He could take an idea in his mind and bring it to life on paper. His creativity was just another reflection of the unique way he saw the world.

But perhaps nothing meant more to Cam than his family! He loved his siblings deeply! He was their protector, their big brother, and someone they looked up to tremendously. He loved playing with his brother, and he especially loved the attention he received whenever he was out in public with his baby sister. That million-dollar smile of his could light up a room.

Cam was also an amazing friend. He was the kind of person people could turn to for advice, laughter, friendship, and a good time! He loved hanging out with his friends, playing games, and simply being there for the people he cared about.

But the most beautiful thing about Cameron was his heart! Cam had a heart of gold! He loved the Lord and cared deeply about people, especially those who were often overlooked or forgotten! He loved his community and wanted to make a difference in the lives of others. That desire led him to start his own nonprofit organization, Love Thy Neighbor Inc. Through it, Cam cut hair for people experiencing homelessness, fed them, provided clothing, and—perhaps most importantly—gave them something many people forget to give: his time and his conversation!

Cam never looked at someone as “less fortunate.” He simply saw another person who deserved kindness, dignity, and love! He would sit and talk with people, listen to their stories, and make them feel seen. And they loved him for it! That was Cam. He gave love freely. He showed compassion naturally. He cared deeply. He had a gift for making people feel valued!

Cameron was truly one of a kind! His life may not have been as long as we wanted, but the love he gave and the lives he touched will continue far beyond his years! He left behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, courage, and unconditional love! He made a tremendous impact on his parents, his siblings, his family, his friends, and his community! His presence changed people, and his memory continues to live in the hearts of everyone blessed enough to know him!

Cameron was an angel on Earth, and we will forever be grateful that we were given the privilege of calling him our son, our brother, our family, and our friend! We love you, Pops! We always will! Your smile, your heart, your kindness, and the love you gave to others will never be forgotten! Your legacy lives on through every life you touched!

Forever our son! Forever our angel! Forever loved!”
